He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth Bobo Montgomery; his parents, Richard Curtis Montgomery and Lula Driver Montgomery; his children, Jeannie Montgomery Hayes and Thomas Edward Montgomery; and his brothers, Liston Montgomery, Cecil Montgomery and Raymond Montgomery.
He is survived by: his son Richard of Tuscaloosa; his grandchildren, Thomas Edward Montgomery II (Eleanor) of Mountain Brook, Keith Eugene Hayes (Bridget) of Chapel Hill, Matthew William Montgomery of Chattanooga, Richard Neal Montgomery, Jr. (Carol) of Homewood and Caroline Connor Montgomery of Tuscaloosa; his great grandchildren, Dorian Jean Hayes, Eleanor Fontaine Montgomery, Frances Elizabeth Montgomery, Katie Grace Montgomery and Sara Helen Montgomery; and also Cindy of Tuscaloosa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Lake United Methodist Church, Ed and Ruth Montgomery Memorial Fund, 1711 Fourth Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401, Hospice of West Alabama, or to the organization of one's choice.
