He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack S. Akins and Majel R. Akins. He is survived by: his son Jeffrey A. Akins (Alexandra); his grandchildren, Shea of East Ridge, Emma of East Ridge and Logan of East Ridge; and his siblings, Peggy "Happy" Moyer, Steve Akins (Verla), Cleveland, David Akins (Jean), Ringgold and Glen Akins (Pat). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
