He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Lowe and Essie Lowe; and his brothers, G. A. Lowe, Thomas Lowe and Archie Lowe.
He is survived by: his wife Alice; his daughters, Karen Akins (Eddie), Lisa Akins (Wayne) and Angela Gunter; and his siblings, Carlton Lowe (Sue), Clarence Lowe (Shirley), Leveta Harden and Beverly Blaylock. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
