He was predeceased by: his former wife Dorothy Bell Nelson; his wife Bernice Pitts Nelson; his son Douglas Edward Nelson; his brother Gillis Nelson; and his parents, David Eugene Nelson and Eleanor Borg.
He is survived by: his son Gene Nelson (Mary); his granddaughter Amber Harvey (Daniel); his great grandchildren, Isaiah, Braiden and Danielle; and his siblings, John and Ruth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
