She was predeceased by: her parents, David Lee and Patsy May Newsom (Payne). She is survived by: her husband Millard Jamie Slaton; her children, Christi Cho, Brandon Johnson and Patricia Skyles; and her brothers, Ricky Newsom, Anthony Newsom, Wayne Newsom and Brad Newsom. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
