He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Margaret Betts and Fred Hughley Sr.; his brothers, Melvin Powell and Fred Hughley Jr.; his aunt Merneatha Rose Buckmon; his uncles, Jack, Charles, Robert and James Buckmon; his daughter-in-law Sue Powell; his wife Velma Geraldine Powell; his children, Angela Davis, Victor Powell (Andrea), Stephen Powell, Carlos McConnell and Stanley Powell (Tracey); and his grandchildren, Ariel Smith (Jonathan), Arica McConnell, Alexis McConnell, Adrian Powell (Natalie), Leroy Scott (Ebonie), Charleston Scott, Desean McConnell and Tevin Scott.
A funeral service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Second Missionary Baptist Church (2305 E 3rd St, Chattanooga, TN 37404). A burial was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
