He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice H Gist and Ella Mae Collins Gist of Scottsboro, Alabama.; and his siblings, Junior Gist, Doyle Gist and Nina Stanfield.
He is survived by: his children, Sandra Gist Ryan (Conroy) of Moody and David Michael Gist (Jeanie) of Marietta, Georgia.; his sister Imogene Gist Bray of Leeds, Alabama.; his great grandchildren, Jack, William, Audrey, Elsie, Elijah and Gideon; and his nephew Sonny.
