He was predeceased by: his parents, James E. Hicks and Gladys Hicks; and his siblings, James E. Hicks Jr., Mildred Smith, Margret Schmidt and Mary Coppit.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Hicks; his brother Jerry Hicks (Gail); his children, Telly Grant (Lisa Grant), Linda Baker (Dennis Baker), Maria Davis (Chris Davis), Lindsey Green (Coy Green) and Audrey Basma (Mohammed Basma); and his grandchildren, Matthew Pike, Brianna Rodgers, Taylor Millard, Jordan Grant, William Grant, Logan Davis and Hunter Davis.
