She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Steele and Mary Lee Steele. She is survived by: her husband Gilbert R. Prater; her daughters, Louann Smith (Richard) and Becky Sullivan (Tripp); her grandchildren, Gretchen Bourgeois (Billy), Van Sullivan (Marion) and Connor Sullivan; and her brother Tommy Steele. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
