It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Bertha Stimson in Chattanooga, Tennessee, born in Paris, Tennessee, who passed away on February 20, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Bryan Lawrence and Gracie Alice Enoch Lawrence; and her former husband James Franklin Chumley. She is survived by: her daughters, Diana Chumley Tweed of Harriman, TN, Jane Chumley Ammons (Ricky) of Atlanta, GA, Patricia Chumley Suggs (Mill) of North Augusta, SC and Teresa Louise Klima of Alexandria, VA; her grandchildren, Amy Claborn Kuntzman (Erich), Joseph Andy Claborn, Jr. (Robin), James Ammons (Jessica), Jesse Ammons (Kelly), Victoria Lee Suggs Knight, Annabelle Jessica Suggs, Milledge Jesse Suggs III (Brooke) and William Klima; her nieces, Vickie Lawrence and Lisa Burnside (Tim); her nephew Woody Lawrence (Vickie); her stepchildren, Joseph Stimson (Lee) of Alexander City, AL and Anne Stimson Durham (Larry) of Birmingham, AL; and her stepgrandchildren, Alan C. Stimson (Tammy), Jennifer Stimson, Margaret D. Anderson (Todd) and Bradley F. Durham. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the McEvoy Funeral Home (507 W Washington St, Paris, TN 38242). A burial will be held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Green Plains Cemetery.
