She was predeceased by: her mother Doris Bell Hudgins; and her sister Sharon Elaine Dickerson. She is survived by: her children, Minister Charles A. Careathers (Virginia) of Chattanooga and Theresa Hudgins of Chattanooga; her father James T. Hudgins, Sr. (Barbara) of Texas; her husband Willie T. Benford; her siblings, Charles E. Hudgins of Chattanooga, Melvin Hudgins of Rome, GA, Dennis Hudgins of Rome, GA, Reginald Dickinson of Chicago, IL, Darrell Dickinson of Chicago, IL, Judy Ann Edwards of Tampa, FL. and Janice Hudgins of Chattanooga; her stepdaughter Mai Holiman of Chattanooga; and her close friend David Laster. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
