He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis L. Chapman and Eva Tyson Chapman; his wife Dorris I. Chapman; his son Arlen L. "Vern" Chapman, Jr.; his brother Larry S. Chapman; and his grandson Shane Chapman.
He is survived by: his sons, Gregory B. Chapman (Sabrina) and Michael A. Chapman (Starlana); his sister Brenda York (Al); his siblings-in-law, Betty Chapman, Gay McDaniel and James B. Fox, Sr.; and his close friend Mike Burrell. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces, nephews.
