She is survived by: her siblings, Annette "Darlene" Carter, Edna Newson, Deborah Burney Thurman, Annette Jenkins, Linda Newson, Denise Mungro, Christopher O'Hara, Earl Finnell (Andi), Tyrone Newson (Katherine), David Newson, Mark Newson, LeBron Newson, Ricky Newson Hendley and Nathaniel "Jimmy" Thurman (Zettie); her aunts, Mary Jane Fuqua, Lorene Smith and Dorothy Lockett; her uncle Willie Boyd Fuqua; her cousins, Sandra Fuqua Elliot and Linda Fuqua; her nieces and nephews, Sharon Wright, Frances Wright, Sunshine Finnell, DeMarcus Finnell and Michael Wright, Jr.; her goddaughter Denise Dave; and her close friend Barbara Dave. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Due to COVID-19, a private funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 2:30 P. M. at Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home, 2521 Duncan Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404 with Elder Wilbert McClure, Eulogist.

“It saddens me to experience yet another one of my siblings passing. The last time Florence and I talked, we both said we wanted to get together for a fun bonding event. We ended our hour long call with "I love Sis, see you soon". I will echo that sentiment once again, I love you Sis, see you soon. Darlene and the rest of the family, my heartfelt and sincere prayers are for God's comfort and peace during this time of bereavement.”
