He was predeceased by: his parents, John Marvin and Lena Byrd Atkins; and his siblings, Gene Atkins, Sidney Atkins, Harold Atkins, Mary Atkins Obney, Eleanor Atkins Smith, Kenneth and Judicial Circuit.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Heflin Atkins; his children, John Marvin Atkins and Paula Atkins; his grandson John Dalton Howell (Jessica Fauscette); and also Jackson Howell.
