He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cleo and Ruby Ann Batey Groves; his daughter Tracy Sesler; and his siblings, Jimmy Groves, David Groves and Diane McEwen.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Proctor Groves; his siblings, Bud Groves (Brenda), Linda Smithson and Wanda "Pud" Hooper; his grandchildren, Andin Mayuric (Malachi), Drew Sesler and Paige Sesler; and his son-in-law Steve Sesler.
