He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Yates and Cora Scales Yates; and his brothers, Allen, Walter and Burton Yates.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Knight Yates; his children, Danny Yates (Vicki), Jerry Yates (Wanda), Sandra Crabtree (Richard) and Johnny Yates (Kathy); and his siblings, Margie, Ray, Grady, Roy, David and Charlie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Triune Baptist Church Building Fund.
