He is survived by: his mother Jo Vinson Proffitt of Shelbyville, TN.; his wife Cynthia Proffitt of Chapel Hill, TN; his son Jason Proffitt (Alison) of Chapel Hill, TN; and his half-siblings, Janet Meachem and Larry R. Proffitt. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
