He was predeceased by: his parents, Dora Estelle Robinson Mealer and Ellis Carlton Mealer, Sr.; his siblings, Mary Ball, Ruby Hill, Bessie Mealer, Clara Mealer, Dora Ruth Mealer, J. D. Mealer, Sr., James Mealer and Newt Mealer; and his son-in-law Richard Hill.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Pugh Mealer of Chapel Hill, TN; his daughters, Sandra Hill of Chapel Hill, TN and Glenda Ray (Iston) of Panama City, FL.; his grandchildren, Bryan Hill (Robin) and Emily Darnell (Travis); and his stepgrandson Iston Ray Jr.. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
