He was predeceased by: his father Maurice Nolen; his sons, Scott and Tim Nolen; and his siblings, S. T. Nolen, Joanne Barnhill and Polly Thornton.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Rochelle Nolen; his daughter Jolene Martin (Tony) of Lyles; his daughter-in-law Tammy Nolen-Patterson; his children, Larry Kahner and Cornelia Reith (Manfred) of Germany; his sister Iona Springer; and his grandchildren, Daniel, Paige and Evan of Lyles.
