He was predeceased by : his parents, Felix Simpson and Betty Turrentine Simpson; his parents-in-law, Rev. Hughes and Laura Ellis; and his sister-in-law Beverly Simpson.

He is survived by : his wife Joan Ellis Simpson; his daughters, Amanda Neill (Christian), Alicia Simpson, Alayna Forrest (Campbell) and Autumn Hilton (John); his grandchildren, Michael Dean Forrest and Judah Ward Hilton; his brother Jerry L. Simpson; and his extended family Bonnie Blue. He is also survived by nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, beloved cousins.

Visitation was held on Saturday, June 22nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Sunday, June 23rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home (6316 Hwy 41 A, Pleasant View, TN 37146). A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 23rd 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
