He was predeceased by: his parents, Earlie Hunt and Grace Hunt; his brothers, Jewell, Tom and Earl; his half-brother Clarence; and his sisters, Clarine, Pauline, Juanita and Alice.

He is survived by: his wife Henrietta Autry Hunt; his children, Robert Hunt, Jr. (Christina) of Florida, Tracy Elliott (Bruce) of Powell, TN and Cecile Hunt Brown (Steve) of Karns, TN; his sister Leota Kroeger of Florida; and his grandchildren, Gabriel Hunt, Hunter Brown and Alexis Hunt.
