He was predeceased by: his daughter Jackie Louise Butler; his parents, Oscar Butler and Hazel Vinson Butler; and his brothers, Ned and Noel Butler.

He is survived by: his daughter Jeannie Newberry of Lafayette, TN; and his sister Sarah June Yono of Atlanta, GA.. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
