He was predeceased by: his daughter Polly Porter; and his brother-in-law Roger Anthony "Tony" Armistead. He is survived by: his daughters, Phyllis Porter Mantlo (Tim) of Hendersonville and Kim Porter Hamilton (Jonathan) of Aurora; his grandchildren, Tanesha Bowler of Virgin, Milea (Greg Hunt) of St. George, Emma Mantlo of Syracuse and Ben Mantlo (Rachel) of Gallatin; and his siblings, Carolyn Armistead of Lebanon and Kendall Porter (Melinda) of Lebanon.
The Porter family has requested memorials to the Pleasant Shade Cemetery Mowing Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
