He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cornett and Celicia Fugate Cornett; his wife Yvonne Shirley Cornett; and his siblings, Bill Cornett, Kenneth Cornett, O'Neal Cornett, Carolyn Williams and Diane Keohan.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Cornett (Lisa) of Yuma, TN. and Robin Adams of Camden, TN.; his brother Danny Cornett (Inga) of California; and his grandsons, Josh Douglas (Micky) and Brandon Douglas (Melissa).
