He was predeceased by: his parents, Cordell Kennedy and Ora Kennedy (Jones); his granddaughter Makayla Kennedy; and his siblings, Hershel Ray Kennedy, Porter Kennedy, Wondell Griffin and Joyce York.

He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Kennedy (Ellison); his children, Patricia Cross and Russell Kennedy; and his grandchildren, Neal Kennedy, Karley Schoettle, Kennedy Schoettle and Kamryn Cross. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
