He was predeceased by: his parents, Dana Matherly and Ida Stout Matherly; and his son Shane Matherly. He is survived by: his wife Eileen Howes Matherly; his children, Sheila (Shannon Shepherd) and Eric "Gordy" Matherly; his siblings, Mae Pierce and Clarence Matherly; his grandchildren, Grace, Reese, Jay, Kyman, Jackson and Andrew; and his friend Dave Johnson of Butler. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
