He was predeceased by: his wife Debra Darlene Young; his parents, George Young and Pauline Young; his stepmother Irene Young; his brothers, William "Billy" Young and Milburn Frank Young; and his great grandchild Adalynn Young.
He is survived by: his children, Joe "Jody" Allen Young, Jr. (Kristi), Melissa Turner and Amanda Martin (David); his grandchildren, Jeffrey Helm (Mikayla), Brittany Young, Kassidy Ramsey, Michael, Travis Young, Malachi, Allie, Eli and Raelynn Martin; his great grandchildren, Aubrie, Chloe, Kinzley, Brynlee Helm, Hadley Young, Kaleb, Kayden and Karter Ramsey; his siblings, Roy "Tootie" Young (Jerusha), Gladys "Cissy" Hickey (Wayne) and Margaret Dickerson; his stepsister Joyce Krawiec; and his sister-in-law Teresa Young. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
