She was predeceased by: her parents, Ferd Hargis Stout and Velma Brown Stout; her husband Walter Morgan Warren Shanks; her son Stanley Warren Shanks; her brothers, Elton (Dorothy Nell) and Earl Stout (Wanda Sue); her daughter-in-law Kathy Shanks (Wayne); her brother-in-law Eldon Carter (Treba); her sister Dorothy; her siblings-in-law, Ralph Fike and Doris Shanks (Robert); her brother Reginald; and her sister-in-law Andeline Shanks.

She is survived by: her sons, Walter Hargis Shanks (Lynn) and Morgan Wayne Shanks; her daughter-in-law Cindy Shanks Houseman; her grandchildren, Walter H. Shanks, Jr., Robert Shanks, Tiffany Davidson (Matt), Andrea Langley (Drew), Wes Shanks (Alex), Rachel Settle (Josh) and Sara Dorr (Danny); her siblings, Treba Carter, Tony Stout (Linda), Sarah Johnson (Chuck) and Donnita Williams (Ron); her siblings-in-law, Dorothy Nell Stout, Wanda Sue Stout and Robert A. Shanks; her nephews, Patrick Stout, Michael Carter, Larry Carter, Kenny Stout, Mark Stout, Charles Johnson, David Johnson, Andy Hill, Monty Hill, Alton Roark and Gary Bodenstein; and her great grandchildren, Easton Davidson, Ethan Shanks, Graham Davidson, Court Langley, Garrett Langley, Collin Shanks, Tanner Shanks, Jacob Dorr and Carter Dorr. She is also survived by great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Stanley Warren Shanks Memorial Endowment for Baseball Fund at Middle Tennessee State University.
