It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Helen Bates of Buffalo Valley, Tennessee, born in Cookeville, Tennessee, who passed away on October 28, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, JB McHenry and Ethel Rodgers McHenry; and her siblings, Glenn McHenry and Catherine Vickers. She is survived by: her husband Johnny Bates, Sr.; her children, Angela Leffew (Steven) of Buffalo Valley and Johnny Earl Bates, Jr. (Lora) of Buffalo Valley; her grandchildren, Seth Leffew and Jesse Earl Bates; and her sister Barbara Ann Thurman of Double Springs. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Due to COVID-19, the family has requested to please wear a mask during visitation and while in close proximity at the cemetery.
