He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas Elrod and Mary Frances Tinsley Elrod; his children, Stephanie Travis and Tim Elrod (Hope); and his siblings, Johnny Elrod and Patsy Sorrell (Tommy).

He is survived by: his wife Marcia Elrod of Brownsville, TN; his children, Sabrina Benard (Joey) of Covington, TN, Rebecca Slaughter (Charles) of Brownsville, TN, Dana Lewis (Tony) of Wellford, S. C. and Jack Fry, Jr. (Jennifer) of Brownville, TN.; and his siblings, Thomas Elrod (Donna), Donald Elrod (Barbara) of Koko, TN and Judy Chandler (Kenny) of Powell, TN.. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lea and Simmons Funeral Home toward funeral expenses.
