He was predeceased by: his parents, Sammy Hayes and Eva Benard Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Betty Freels Hayes; his children, Ricky Joe Hayes of Whiteville, TN and Norma Sue Lee (Kenny); his brother T. P. Hayes; his grandchildren, Jesse Hayes, Tonya Kelley and Timothy Kelley; and his great grandchildren, Katlin Kelley, McKenzie Nerren, Austin Nerren, Kayleigh Hayes, Kyndal Hayes, Bryson Hayes and Blayne Kelley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, 3844 Eurekaton Rd., Stanton, TN 38069.
