He was predeceased by : his father Luther A. Briggs, Sr.; and his siblings, Wesley Briggs, Douglas Briggs, Charles Briggs, Virginia Sowell, Dorothy Delong and Jackie Cooper.

He is survived by : his children, Allen Briggs of Paris, TN, Dale Ray Briggs of Jackson, TN, Ellen Louise Hamlin of Martinis, CA and Sharon Ann Anweiler of Knoxville, TN; and his siblings, Frankie Briggs, Ray Briggs, Carl Thomas Briggs and Nancy Sue Christy. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
