He was predeceased by : his parents, Vernon "Buck" James Scallions and Altie Earline Lee Scallions; and his siblings, Lee Roy, Carl Wayne, Billy Don, David W. Scallions and Flossie Earline Cooper.

He is survived by : his wife Patsy Joy Coffman Scallions of Brownsville, TN; his daughters, Dr. Jamie Ann Halbert of Blythe, GA, Starla Kay Plunkett of Fort Smith, AR and Sonja M. Sharp of Elizabethon, TN; his sister Mary Alice Noah; and his grandchildren, Dr. J. D. Halbert, Christopher Halbert, Dustin Fields, Desiree Pittman and Kendra Fields. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
