He is survived by: his wife Jessie Elizabeth Choate Whittington; his children, Steven Whittington and Sharon Crutcher; his brother E. J. Whittington (Barbara); his grandson John Russell Crutcher II (Isabel); and also Chris. He is also survived by five nephews; one step niece.
