He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Livingston Carlton, Jr. and Dorothy Carlton, Jr.; and his son Stephen Carlton. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Carlton; his sons, Greg Carlton and Mike Carlton; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Carlton of Brownsville, TN; his sister Kaye Wateridge Wilkes (Lofton); and his grandson Jared Michael Carlton. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.

The family has requested memorials to be made to the First United Methodist Church, 117 E. Franklin Street, Brownsville, TN 38012.
