He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Lynn Hawkins McFarland; his brother J. R. McFarland; and his parents, Henderson McFarland and Mary Paris McFarland. He is survived by: his son Brandon McFarland (Tam) of Jackson, TN; and his grandchildren, Jeremy McFarland, Brandi Maness and Justin McFarland.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Poplar Corner Baptist Church, 1010 Boyd Ave., Brownsville, TN 38012.
