It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Kathern Lane Sherfey of Bristol, Tennessee, who passed away on December 1, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Maynard Earl Lane and Ardis Leonard Lane Griffin; her husband Ray Richard Sherfey; and her siblings, Devona Leonard, Freida McMurry, Fred Lane, Dane Lane, Gary Lane, Jone Leonard and Shelia George.
She is survived by: her children, Angie Price (Brian), Pamela Denton (Lonnie), Greta Seagroves (Ronnie), Richard Sherfey and Tonya Rutter (Donny); her grandchildren, Jeremy Taylor (Tammy), Elijah Denton (Sarah), Bradley Denton (Mindy), Justin Taylor (Tina), Josh Denton (Cindy), Kimberly Price Bruno (Steve), Ryan Rutter, Sydney Rutter Broyles (Gage) and Devin Rutter (Kendall); her great grandchildren, Corey Taylor, Taylor Denton, McKenzie Meade, Andrew Houston, Noah Woods, Logan Taylor, Bryson Denton, Tanner Green, Briley Denton, Kyla Denton, Abigail Bruno, Dax Denton, Braeden Garcia, Tayah Rutter and Harper Denton; her great great grandchildren, Addison Taylor, Daxliegh Collins and Ayva Collins; and her siblings, Brenda Ogle, Benny Lane, Daryl Lane and Anthony Lane.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Akard Funeral Home (1912 W State St, Bristol, TN 37620). A burial was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Barker's Cemetery (19796 Phillips Rd, Bristol, VA 24202).
Memorial donations can be made to Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church at 1384 Walnut Grove Rd. Bluff City, TN 37618 in remembrance of Kathern Sherfey.
