He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Morley Lewis and Herbert W. Haynes; and his stepmother Ruth Crockett Haynes. He is survived by: his wife Anne Lorene Franklin Haynes; his children, Beth A. Haynes, David S. Haynes (Sidney) and Andrea C. Haynes; and his siblings, Marilyn Beagle (Wally) and Bill Haynes (Lynn).
