He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Dollar and Vicie Dollar (Eldridge); his wife Phyllis Dollar; his son John Jr.; and his brothers, Delmar Dollar, Ralph Dollar and Wayne Dollar.
He is survived by: his children, Goldie Thomas (Tony), Vicie Lynn Vance (Rick) and Charles Dollar; his grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Roger Gibson, Ryan Dollar, Courtney Arnold (Sean) and Ashley Blevins (Daylann); his great grandchildren, Isaac Arnold and Greyson Thomas; his siblings, Sue Miller (Jerry), Irene Bishop (Eddie), Walter Dollar, Norman Dollar (Christine), Gerald Dollar (Debbie) and JB Dollar; and his caregivers, Scott Murray-Registered and Gary Knapp-Chaplain.
