He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Helms and Novella Helms. He is survived by: his wife Helen Helms; his children, Deborah H. Smith (Randy) of Bristol, TN, George F. "Buzz" Helms, IV (Kristie) of Bristol, VA and Mark R. Helms (Genia) of Bristol, TN; his grandchildren, George Franklin Helms, Lindsey Ashby (Brandon), Tyler Smith, Devon Correll, Grace Helms, Elliott Helms and Dylan Helms; his great grandchildren, Nicholas Ashby and Taylor Ashby; and his brother Clarence F. Helms (Sarah) of Floral City, FL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
