He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Gortney and Mary Lois Whitson Gortney; his wife Linda Gortney; his son David Gortney; and his grandson Micah Morton.
He is survived by: his daughters, Holly Morton (Gary) of Bakersville, NC and Keshia Gortney of Jonesborough, TN; his siblings, Larry Gortney of Bakersville, NC and Shelia Floyd of Johnson City, TN; and his grandchildren, Dalton, Cierria Whitson, Zoey Hughes, Laken, Lyric Morton, Dakota Gortney, Alexis Hughes and Hailey Barry. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
