He is survived by: his wife Karen Ann Wallen; his son Jordan C. Pennington; his daughter-in-law Andrea E. Pennington; and his sisters, Marcie Thompson (Jim) of Winston-Salem, NC and Kay Duncan of Beckley, WV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
