He was predeceased by: his parents, David W. Akard and Kathleen Willis Akard; his sister Kathleen Akard Watford (Jerry); and his brother-in-law James Bowdoin. He is survived by: his wife Melinda Buchanan Akard; his children, Cynthia Ann Akard (Cory Luellen), Bambi Brooke Akard and David W. Akard, III (Rae); his grandchildren, Davis Buchanan Akard, Alexandra Reagan Akard and Palmer Rayne Akard; his sister Louise Akard Bowdoin; and his siblings-in-law, Diane Hughes (Larry) and Michael Buchanan (Vicki). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal visitation, the book and picture video will be available 10: A. M. - 4:00 P. M., Thursday and Friday at Akard Funeral Home.
