With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Benita Jay Bowman of Bristol, Tennessee, born in Boston, Massachusetts, who passed away on July 19, 2020 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Franklin Jay and Dorothy Crosby Jay; her sisters, Dorothy Julia Jay and Susan J. Binkley; her stepmother Mary Henson Jay; and her stepsister Carla Black.
She is survived by: her children, Johnny Lee Bowman, Jr. (Colleen) of Abingdon, VA and Benita Julia "Julie" Barr (John) of Bristol, TN; her grandchildren, Cameron Jay Barr, Riley Lauren Blackstone and Raelin Grace Bowman; her sister Victoria J. Henson (Jim); her brother-in-law David Binkley; her stepsiblings, Marilyn Oliver, Paul Henson (Debbie) and Phil Henson (Sondra); and her close friends, Bobbie Vincill and Carol Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Ballad Hospice House, 280 Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
