He was predeceased by: his parents, Ulysses Hughes and Sarah Hughes; his wife Roberta Hughes; his daughter Allison Denise Hughes; and his siblings, David Hughes, Jack Hughes, Bettye Jo Hughes and Jean Hughes.

He is survived by: his children, Allen Hughes Jr., Landon Richmond of Knoxville, TN, Robin Hughes of Richmond, VA and Kisha Richmond of Knoxville, TN; and his sister Barbara Lewis. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
