He was predeceased by: his father Melvin Dawson; his wife Joyce Ann Glass Dawson; his siblings, Martha Jean Smith and Wayne Dawson; and his granddaughter Justina Marie Cook.
He is survived by: his children, Jimmy Dawson (Sherry), Ronald Dawson (Cheryl), Debbie Hall, Wanda Dawson Cook and Judy Webb; and his brother Royce Dawson. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
