He was predeceased by: his parent Zina Mitchell, Sr.; his wife Bonnie Hawkins Mitchell; his siblings, Donald (Louise), Frank (Peggy), Harvey (Dottie), Mildred Hall (Dexter), Margaret "Bobbie" Townsend (Bud), Louise Bartlett (Harold) and Nancy Galdenzi; and his sisters-in-law, Dolores Hawkins Dockery (Charlie) and Elwanda DeLaune (Bernie).
He is survived by: his children, Mike Mitchell (Glenda), Sandi Mitchell and Debi Tucker (David); his grandchildren, Jodi Tucker Wiley (Matthew), Lynsi Tucker Hartman (Randy), Autumn Fletcher Potter (Heath) and Amber Fletcher Vaughn (Trey); his great grandchildren, Samuel, Nathan, Caleb Hartman, Ryman Wiley, Hattie and Eden Potter; his brother-in-law Jim Hawkins (Barbara); and his niece Trudy Wheeler (Earl). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
