He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Woodrow Burns and Maye Goins Burns; his wife Shirley; his son Zane E. Burns, Jr. (Kristie) of Brentwood, Tennessee.; and his sister Betty Shaeffer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nashville Inner City Ministry.
