He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Hale and Daphne Hale; and his sister Denise Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Wentz; his sister Charlotte Penland (Mallory); his siblings-in-law, Robert Thompson and Pat Sinclair (Harold); his nieces and nephews, Meredith Fink (Jeremy), Jennifer Scercy (Kelly), Andy Thompson and Greg Sinclair (Lissa); his aunts, Pauline Reynolds of North Carolina and Carolyn Critz of Virginia; and his uncle Danny Reynolds of North Carolina. He is also survived by eleven great-nieces and great-nephews.
