He was predeceased by: his parents, Bronson Jernigan and Annie Belle Rogers Jernigan; and his brothers, Seawell, Shaufner, Aubrey and Kenneth Jernigan.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Geier Jernigan; his son Brian Jernigan (Kathy); and his grandchildren, Anna Kate Neiswander (Taylor) and Zacary Jernigan. He is also survived by four sisters in law; two brothers in law; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nephews.
